Miami Autism Dad Victor Antunez interviews Nick Maccarrone, Psy.D., and Joshua Davis of The Social Cog about the crisis nobody talks about after the school bus stops coming: autistic adults with no friends and no way to make them. Founded in 2012, The Social Cog matches independently functioning autistic adults to a peer group, a clinical social coach, and monthly outings where real friendships form. Nick is the psychologist who created it. 19-year-old Joshua is the reason it exists. His mother asked for a program that didn't exist and today he works for the Miami Heat, plans weekends with friends, and sits on the executive board of the organization that changed his life.
